Planet 13 on Course for Q3 Facility Launch

Planet 13 Holdings Inc. [stock_market_widget type="inline" template="generic" color="default" assets="PLTH.CN" markup="(CSE: {symbol} {currency_symbol}{price} ({change_pct}))" api="yf"] expects to unveil its new customer-facing production facility by the end of Q3 in spite of ongoing permit delays.

The firm’s Las Vegas superstore is a major tourist destination for marijuana aficionados and it is working on a significant expansion. It will soon have a coffee shop, bistro, and event space to complement the large retail space, which has previously been branded the Disneyland of cannabis stores.

Yet the most important part of the expansion is a $6 million customer-facing production facility that will allow visitors to watch cannabis products being made.

The firm’s own brands currently account for around 15% of sales at the superstore, which receives more than 3,000 visitors per day, the majority from out of state. When the new production facility is up and running, Planet 13 plans to increase the share of in-house brand sales to 50%.

The production facility was always expected to launch in Q3 and co-chief executive Bob Groesbeck said it would still meet the target. “Despite ongoing permitting delays our goal is to open Phase II by the end of Q3 and to enter the wholesale market in Q4 2019,” he said.

The firm has just revealed its latest two pieces of new product development: HaHa Gummies and Dreamland Chocolates. They will be produced at the new 15,000 sq. ft. customer-facing production facility within the Planet 13 Las Vegas complex.

The firm said it has been able to glean insights from 400,000 visitors to the store over the past eight months, and this has driven its product development decisions. It reported that sativa-based edibles are flying off the shelves and enjoy huge popularity among tourists.

HaHa Gummies meet that demand and they are available in flavours like blue raspberry, pink lemonade, and pineapple. Cookies N’ Dream, Decadent Dark, and Crackling Crunch are among the SKUs within the new Dreamland Chocolates range.
