North American gaming company Counter Logic Gaming<\/strong> \u2013 a frequent eSports partner with the Madison Square Garden Company<\/strong> [stock_market_widget type=\"inline\" template=\"generic\" color=\"default\" assets=\"MSG\" markup=\"(NYSE: {symbol} {currency_symbol}{price} ({change_pct}))\" api=\"yf\"]\u00a0\u2013 today announced the return of a former\u00a0competitive\u00a0gaming star<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Stephanie Harvey, more commonly known by her handle Missharvey, has moved into the role of director of eSports franchise development and outreach for Counter Logic Gaming (CLG).<\/p>\n

In that position,\u00a0Missharvey will specifically work towards encouraging diversity and a broader player base in competitive gaming event communities.<\/p>\n

Harvey was formerly a\u00a0Counter-Strike<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0CS:GO\u00a0<\/em>pro player with the Counter Logic Gaming Red team, and is known internationally for winning season 3 of Canada\u2019s Smartest Person,<\/em> as well as hitting the Forbes\u00a030 Under 30 list in 2014.<\/p>\n

Discussing her return to the company in the new role after previously working as a developer and pro player, Harvey commented:<\/p>\n

I\u2019m thrilled to be able to put my full support behind the programs CLG is creating for the gaming communities. There is a tremendous opportunity to take the next step in supporting them and lifting up the amateur scene in ways that would make us all stronger. I can\u2019t wait to hit the ground running and advance this platform so that it may reach even more women and girls in gaming, but also anyone else interested in being a part of our community.\u00a0<\/div><\/div>\n

Both the eSports community and single player gaming companies have seen a marked shift over the past year towards a larger focus on female gamers in what has traditionally been a male-dominated industry.<\/p>\n

The recently-released\u00a0Gears 5<\/em><\/a> \u2014 a staple of multiplayer eSports events \u2014 featured a female protagonist for the first time in the series, while the latest Wolfenstein<\/em> title shifted its timeline forward several decades to focus on the previous hero\u2019s daughters.<\/p>\n

WWE2K20<\/em> also notably included both a male and female\u00a0wrestler\u00a0as cover stars<\/a> for the first time in franchise history, with the game\u2019s Showcase mode covering the ascent of women in the WWE since 2014.<\/p>\n
